Nelkor's Saga, Necromancer island (Scenes 7-9)

SCENE 7: The Cave of the Hermitage.

The group, after a few minutes of walking, reached the entrance of the cave, from which fell a small waterfall fed by a stream that came out soundly into the darkness ...

The hole stretched for more than 300 meters, and it was necessary to use torches to illuminate the path until ... suddenly, the wall closed the path. The explorers, surprised, could not believe that this was all ... investigating and searching, they finally found a small opening in the rock, at the top of one of the ledges, they rose up to it without too much difficulty.

They continued advancing, and after a fork they entered a vaulted area, when they began to hear groans, they borrowed their weapons and raised the torches to better illuminate the area, eyes shone in the shadows and the decomposing bodies of three sailors were drawn in the shadows, the guards stopped them, but they raised their arms and went towards the newcomers ... draw! - shouted Melkor.

The fight was without quarter, the zombies showed an insane vitality, seriously wounding Nelkor with their claws, but when everything seemed lost for him, the two guards lived up to their name, and killed the zombies with their lunges, amputating their limbs.

There was no time to heal Nelkor, so they continued moving through that cursed cave.

SCENE 8: Against the shadows.

Nelkor and his companions continued to advance through the shadows, when they noticed that the path was descending, and the murmur of the water grew closer. Three the noise of the water was heard a muffled cry.

The adventurers quickened their pace, until they reached a chamber, with tremendous stalactics and stalagmites that served as columns, supporting the stony vault. In the middle a lake poured its waters through the cracks in the rock, creating the river that they saw at the entrance.

They advanced toward the moans, vigilant. The boy they were looking for was there, the guards recognized him as soon as the torches lit his face, he was dirty, stained and full of bruises. One of the guards ran to untie him, while Nelkor and the other explored the area, they found some bones with pieces of what appeared to be fresh meat by the lake, when suddenly the scream of the child chilled the blood of the men.

They quickly turned around towards the boy, when a greenish shadow came out of the waters, throwing itself at the guard who was untying the prisoner; this without option, fell to the ground face down, while the other two men ran to help their friend.

The beast that had come out of the water, got up, was tall, almost eight feet, with skin between scaly and bare of a dark green all, huge gills were drawn on the sides of its face, where the ears. With its webbed claws, it attacked the guard on the ground, and prepared to take over the other two.

Both men charged at the same time, brandishing their weapons, and prepared to fight. That being from another plane had a brutal force, on more than one occasion he ended up throwing his opponents against the walls of the cave; the edged weapons cut the air and began to open pestilential wounds in the body of that creature, from which a dark and thick liquid emanated ... The badly wounded creature at one point decided that it was better to flee and crossing the lake, began to flee down the corridor, to which, Nelkor plunged into a berseker attack, launched himself in pursuit, prey to the hatred and ancestral anger that he has for everything related to magic ...

He was only able to vaguely detect the shadow that advanced in front of him, moving with difficulty when he was expelled from his natural environment, on two occasions he was able to hit him on the back, one of them almost slicing his neck; but that creature as a "good demon" coming from an impious plane, had a demonic resistance ...

The light from the entrance was already in sight when Nelkor caught up with him. Both rolled on the ground, a fight between beast and demon took place, the natural against the impious took place, in the end, the demon managed to escape from Nelkor and jump into the sea whose waves broke at the foot of the cliff ... the barbarian with his heavy muscles injected with blood, blind with hatred, he leapt after the demon, unaware of the suicidal leap he was taking ... their bodies sank between the foamy tongues of water that welcomed them coldly ...

SCENE 9: A few days after....

When Nelkor woke up, with a start he put his hand around his neck ... he didn't have the leather, and everything was dark ... only a few tremulous flames kept him company. Had he died? He tried to get up but his whole body ached, he screamed in pain ...

Instantly, Nurul Rahman's shadow appeared behind some veils, he approached the barbarian and asked him to remain still, his wounds still to be healed.

Nelkor asked desperately what had happened? and Nurul clapped his hands twice, and stood watching the barbarian's body. A few minutes later one of the guards who accompanied him appeared at the door, the one who called himself Ratallai, when he saw him awake, he outlined a smile on his sorrowful face.

Nurul with a gesture invited Ratallai to stand beside Nelkor, and asked him to tell him what had happened?

Ratallai cleared his throat and began to tell his story ...

"After disappearing after the monster, we gave you up for lost, we rescued the boy and went down to the beach, we spent two days looking for your body, until you appeared one afternoon next to some rocks. We took you out, and tried to heal your wounds, we could do little do, so we decided to bring you Rahman.

The following night, while you were the victim of nightmares due to fevers, that creature appeared from the shadows, and attacked us, it was very weak, but it managed to skew the life of good Hilderis, the other guard. The boy and I, we buried Hilderis and burned the demon's body, and we continued our way here.

This was a week ago ... "

Nelkor's head began to spin and he felt pangs in every millimeter of his back, he bit his lip to keep from screaming ...

Nurul Rahman dropped some sleeping powder on Nelkor who fell into a deep sleep.

A few weeks later, after his recovery, Nelkor was talking about his next march, when Ratallai broke his voice, and he told Nelkor that since Hilderis's death he wanted to leave, Ratallai had been a couple for the last 10 years, and that everything there reminded him ... that he needed to leave there and rebuild his life away from Nurul's protection. She had spoken to him, and he had given her the freedom to decide her fate, so she offered Nelkor as a traveling companion to the nearest town where she could offer her sword skills to the highest bidder.

Nelkor, surprised, saw no problem in that, as long as it was clear that he works alone and at no time would be subordinate to the guard.

Ratallai accepted, and a few days later they both left Nurul Rahman's mansion in pursuit of their fate ...
